I’m Irena, an Auckland based portrait photographer with a deep appreciation for human connection and the stories we carry. Originally from Latvia, I’ve called New Zealand home for the past five years, drawn to its raw landscapes and easy connection to nature.

Travelling has been a big part of my life, shaping the way I see the world and connect with people. My work goes beyond capturing faces—I aim to reveal the emotions, energy, and unspoken moments that make each person who they are. I thrive on meaningful interactions, drawn to people’s layers, contrasts, and quiet depths.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me surrounded by my ever-growing collection of indoor plants, getting my hands dirty in the garden, or escaping into bush for a hike with my husband. The beach is my reset button—whether it's a morning walk or simply sitting with the sound of the waves. That is where most of my photoshoots happen.

Lately, I’ve been diving into Human Design system, fascinated by how it helps us understand ourselves on a deeper level. This curiosity has started weaving into my photography, making each session more personal and intentional.
